WINDHOEK – The Brave Warriors have secured an international friendly against Mozambique, slated for November 19 in Windhoek.

The news was confirmed by the NFA Secretary General Barry Rukoro, who said that after months of trying to secure a proper friendly game for the Warriors, it has finally happened and the team will take on the Mambas on the next FIFA calendar date.

“Our team has been out of action since the World Cup qualifiers and now we have this chance to see the team in an action again. Playing these games is very important especially for the coach to keep the players together and try new things and plan better for the future. That is what we as the secretariat will always strive to get and have for the technical team to be ready,” Rukoro said.

The NFA had been in talks with Zimbabwe and Mozambique and finally landed a deal with Mozambique. “Everyone needs to play these days but due to resources and other issues it is not always possible to get what you wish and we can count ourselves very lucky to have secured an opponent ahead of the FIFA date, because it means we will have all our players available for the game and give the nation an opportunity to see the team in action on home turf before the end of the year.”

On his part, Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti welcomed the match: “This is an opportunity for me to bring in the foreign-based players and blend them with all other players who took part in the CHAN qualifiers and COSAFA Cup, just to see how they fit together.  2013 has been a busy year for the Brave Warriors. In fact for the last three years we have never played so many games and  to finish the year against Mozambique, who eliminated us from the CHAN qualifiers, will surely be a great game with so much fresh memories for the players and supporters.”
