WINDHOEK – The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) last week led a powerful business delegation to Zimbabwe in search of more investment and trade opportunities in that country.

Zimbabwe, which recently held peaceful presidential and parliamentary elections and installed a new government, is one of the countries on the NCCI’s priority list in the SADC region on which the chamber is focusing its trade promotion activities at regional level.

“The NCCI believes that Zimbabwe offers numerous opportunities in various economic sectors which Namibian businesses can take advantage of. Having held peaceful, democratic presidential and parliamentary elections just two months ago, Zimbabwe is set to reclaim its position as a regional economic powerhouse. We expect businesses from all over the world to set their eyes on Zimbabwe and to grab opportunities created by the improved political and economic climate in Zimbabwe and we do not want Namibian businesses to be left out,” said NCCI Chief Executive Officer, Tarah Shaanika

The business delegation, which consisted of fourteen businesspeople, arrived in the Zimbabwean capital on Sunday, October 20, and used the week-long visit to identify key opportunities for Namibian businesses. The visit will be followed another by a bigger business delegation in the first quarter of 2014 that will be aimed at securing concrete business deals in identified areas.

The NCCI is the leading business representative and support organisation in Namibia. Membership comprises of companies across all economic sectors, including prominent large companies as well as hundreds of SMEs.
