WINDHOEK-One of the Namibian music organization, Red Sands Music Agency (RSMA) have joined forces with some Namibian artists to create awareness and fight against Rhino poaching in Namibia.
This awareness campaign will be held on November 9 alongside Windhoek.RSMA Director, Kelly Thompson, says they decided to create this awareness simply because they think there is more to be done in promoting awareness for a cause that is in the spotlight at the moment. “We will be holding a basking event to raise awareness. The practice of performing in public places and street performance dates back to ancient times and occurs all over the world,” says Kelly. However, she adds that this basking event will only involve natural instruments (voice, bongos, marimbas, etc). “No speakers or unnatural sound equipment will be involved due to the fact that this is an awareness campaign for a natural cause of our country’s rhino population. The Save the Rhino Trust has shown great enthusiasm with this project and we are proud to have them associated with this campaign,” Kelly prides herself.
However, the performing artists will not be paid for this event since it is to raise awareness for an excellent cause and one that needs as much awareness as possible. Musicians on board for this event so far are Sean Kamati, PD Stoman, Namibian Cowboy, Elvit (Gospel Acapella) and many more to be revealed soon.
