WINDHOEK – The Nudo Youth League in the Khomas Region has told senior politicians in the party not to meddle in the youth league’s congress slated for the coming weekend at Okakarara.

“The main issue is intervention of senior position holders or elders,” said the youth league in a statement, further cautioning seniors not to make false promises to members to vote for their favourite candidates. “It is high time in a democratic country like Namibia for young people to strengthen platforms for youth participation in decision-making in order to ensure equal access to young men and young women to participate in decision-making,” read the statement. The youth league said it wants to express its opinions freely in all matters at the upcoming congress.

The Nudo Youth League has also announced Nambee Upendura and Pro-Laste Ngueumenga as the nominees for the positions of secretary-general and deputy-secretary general. “We declare to support our candidates for the positions of secretary-general and deputy in the Nudo youth league,” the statement said. The youth wing also called for unity ahead of the congress.

“Despite limited resources the wave of change has finally hit the doors,” the youth wing said. Upendura is a co-founder of the Nudo Youth League, which was founded in 2004 and the leader of the Nudo branch in the Erongo Region, and is also a member of the party’s Central Committee. Pro-Laste Ngueumenga is also a co-founder of the Nudo Youth League and is the Nudo Regional Electoral Coordinator for the Omusati and Kunene regions, a former party representative in the National Youth Council and was a former member of the DTA Youth League.
