WHEN your rugged 4×4 is all dollied up with pink balloons, ribbons and decorations, then you know that it is all for a good cause – October breast cancer awareness month.

Such was the occasion on Saturday when the first ever “Dust & Dirt 4×4 Babes’ dirt challenge held at the SKW 4×4 playground, saw 33 teams of mostly women, and men dressed as women enter their 4×4’s for a day of fun in the sun.

Organisers laid on a challenge of ten obstacles, jumping castle, food stalls, and so on to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer in Namibia.

A total of 29 4×4’s entered the course challenge, which ranged from Suzuki Jimneys, Landrovers, Jeeps, Nissan Navara’s, Toyota’s Hilux, Isuzu’s bakkies, Sandmasters, and an Iveco 4×4 – all of which were decorated with the pink breast cancer theme of the day.

Organiser of the newly established Dust & Dirt 4×4 activity, Nico Smit was delighted in the turnout, saying that over 500 people attended, and the participating teams went that extra mile, to compete in the good spirit of the occasion.

The recently established ‘Dust & Dirt 4X4’  enterprise, aims to host regular events at the SKW obstacle course, to raise funds for charity. The aim is to attract 4×4 owners who want to enjoy an outing and put their vehicle through its paces on a light dirt course.
