WINDHOEK – One of Namibia’s most promising boxing prospects Sakaria “Desert Storm” Lukas will on Friday get a real taste of how it feels to headline a boxing event, when he takes on Thembani Hobyani from South Africa in the main bout of the ‘Face off with Desert Storm’ Boxing Bonanza, at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.

Lukas will battle it out against Hobyani in the featherweight 10-rounder, in what promises to be an all-out affair between the young boxers, who are both eager to up the ante to take their careers another step up the pugilistic ladder.

“This will be the first time that Desert Storm will headline as the main bout and it is certainly a big moment in his boxing career.  I am honoured by the opportunity, and if there is anybody out there who did not know who and what Desert Storm is all about, they will know right after this fight. We count on the support of the fans and we look forward to giving them an entertaining fight,” said promoter Nestor Tobias

Desert Storm, who started his professional boxing career in 2006 was born in 1988 and hails from the village of Omuthitugwalwani in the northern part of Namibia.  He boasts an excellent record of 10 fights, 10 wins, 0 draws and 0 losses.

About four weeks ago he defeated Emmanuel Simbeye from Zambia in Oshikango and now looks forward to the fight of his life when he takes on Hobyani. His South African opponent comes into this fight with 9 fights, 5 wins and 4 losses.

“While we have a bunch of world class fighters well on their way to respective world titles, we will not lose sight of those with incredible potential because our boxing academy gives all its boxers a platform to shine and make a name for themselves to one day represent the country and make us all proud. Desert Storm is the future of this academy and we need fans to come out this coming weekend to show him support.

“I know we have had two consecutive weeks of boxing so far but we are imploring the fans to come out again and we will only see you in November for another mega fight,” urged Tobias

Tickets are on sale at Compu-Ticket. VIP tickets go for N$1 000 per table seating 10 people with snacks and refreshments, while standard tickets sell for N$100.00

“We were once again blessed and crowned the Best Boxing Academy in Africa, the Best Promoter in Africa and Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda the Best African Boxer of the Year. We are indebted to your support and it is exactly because of your support that we shine through you. We will continue in our commitment to allow others to shine through us and we will create as many opportunities for young aspiring boxers,” said MTC’s chief human capital and corporate affairs officer, Tim Ekandjo.
