WALVIS BAY – Six Chinese construction workers were robbed of N$30 000, six laptops, cellular phones and other valuable items during a robbery that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at Rooibank near Walvis Bay.

The cash stolen from the men included both Namibian and foreign bank notes. Seven unknown suspects armed with knives robbed the victims who arrived only recently in Namibia to work on the construction of a factory at Rooibank. According to Nampol’s acting Crime Investigations Coordinator in the Erongo Region, Eratus Iikuyu the suspects allegedly broke down the kitchen door of the house the victims were living in and gathered all valuable items before they fled from the house. The suspects also stabbed one of the victims who had to be admitted to the Welwitschia hospital at Walvis Bay for treatment.

No one has been arrested in connection with the robbery yet.  The victims are now requesting assistance from the public and are offering a reward of N$5000 for any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects and to the recovery of their stolen property.
