WINDHOEK – NFA Galz & Goals regional coordinators and committee members were trained in HIV/Aids prevention, as well as the implementation and monitoring of the NFA Galz & Goals programmes during the annual Galz & Goals Regional Coordinators Workshop, in Windhoek on September 17-20.

The workshop further provided a platform for sharing experiences across the regions and learning from each other. 20 Galz & Goals coordinators and committee members from nine out of ten Galz & Goals regions attended the workshop, including representatives from Karasburg, where the Galz & Goals programme will be officially launched later next month. “The Regional Coordinators Workshop is an essential capacity-building programme for our coordinators and committees all over Namibia, to enable them to effectively run the Galz & Goals programme in the regions, including the U-13 and U-15 football leagues for girls. The workshop helps us ensure that the committees receive the support they need to keep up the important work they are doing for the young girls and continue to provide opportunities in football development and healthy lifestyle education for adolescents through the Galz & Goals programme,” said Jackey Gertze, the National Coordinator of NFA Galz & Goals.

The Kicking Aids Out! programme training was facilitated by SCORE Namibia, NFA Galz & Goals and is  aimed at teaching participants how to facilitate Kicking Aids Out! through football, as young girls and boys can learn life skills and how to lead healthy lives through fun and group discussions in a safe and stimulating environment.
