…two semi-final ties on menu

WINDHOEK – The stage is set for the much anticipated semi-finals of the League Cup, when FNB Orlando Pirates come up against an in-form Tura Magic at the Kuisebmund Stadium in the coastal town of Walvis Bay on Saturday at 15h00.

With all big guns having bowed out in the early stage of the competition, a fierce battle is expected between the two outfits, with Pirates now proving to have become a force to be reckoned with since the arrival of coach Ali Akan. But Pirates will not be taking a walk through the park, because Tura Magic have demonstrated great form and team work in their last two outings. Both teams have shown great goal scoring prowess in their last two matches, with Pirates netting 5 goals so far, while Magic has managed to net 6 goals, a clear call that a goal fest could be in the offing come Saturday.

All eyes will however be firmly fixed on Akan, as the success-starved Pirates followers will be eager to see his magic touch will lead them to the League Cup, which will be a major boost going into a new Namibia Premier League (NPL) football season. Also at the Kuisebmund Stadium, coastal outfit Eleven Arrows are expected to accord Civics an inhospitable welcome in the second semifinal tie, since they would be aiming to put their home ground advantage to good use in an attempt to book themselves a place in the final. Magic thumped Rundu Chiefs 5-0 to reach the semifinals of the 2nd edition of the League Cup, while Pirates had to negotiate their way past Ramblers via a hard fought 3-1 victory to book themselves a semifinal berth.
