WINDHOEK – The trial of murder, rape and robbery suspect, Erwin Kock, starts today when he is expected to plead formally to the charges he faces in the Windhoek High Court.

The case was supposed to have started on Tuesday, but was postponed to today on request of the State and will continue until September 30 before Judge Naomi Shivute. Kock, 35 years of age at the time of the incident faces charges of murder, rape and robbery with aggravating circumstances. The State alleges the accused unlawfully and intentionally killed Rebecca Isaaks (58) in Keetmanshoop during the period October 02-03 in 2008.

It is further alleged that he raped the deceased brutally and robbed her of her belongings using brute, physical force. Kock was in the company of the deceased at her residence in the Tseiblaagte residential area of Keetmanshoop when he committed the alleged crimes. It is stated in the charge sheet that after Kock raped the deceased, he proceeded to hit her with an unknown object on the head and stabbed her in her privates.

Kock is represented by Boris Isaacks on instructions of the Directorate of Legal Aid, while Deputy Prosecutor General Belinda Wantenaar represents the State reviving the rivalry between the two hotshot lawyers.
