The Namibia Democratic Movement for Change (Namibia DMC) would like to firstly congratulate your good office on your current initiative, to curb corruption as per your mandate by bringing those responsible to book.
Over the past two weeks, the buzzword in Namibia has been corruption.
However, we have serious reservations when it comes to the effectiveness of your current campaign.
As a duly registered political party under our electoral laws, we firmly believe we have an obligation towards our constituency to highlight the following shortcomings.
It is our firm belief that when one wants to remove a tree permanently, one needs to dig the roots out and not merely chop off the leaves, as this will defeat the purpose. This is also true in the sense that your current campaign while being appreciated by all fall short in addressing the core problem, that of eradicating corruption.
If one looks around, it is a fact that those arrested over the past days are really not well connected politically. Yes, they have committed acts of corruption and for that they should pay.
However, clearly they are also left wondering why the CAT always gets away with murder, but the MOUSE always get caught?
Mr Noa, if the Commission as a statutory body brought about by an act of parliament is serious about fighting corruption, why are you deploying double standards?
Surely you are fully aware of the One Hundred Million of the ODC that has disappeared in thin air, and where names of top officials and politically well-connected individuals were mentioned.
The 30 million of Avid Investment is another case in point, while it is true that Mr Kandara is deceased those implicated are still alive and they have become instant millionaires. The 3,5 million of the Ministry of Defence is also a case in point and the list is endless.
Mr Noa, are we to assume that since you took office a year ago, you have not yet managed to conclusively and beyond doubt trace this money and bring those responsible for its disappearance to book?
Or it is a question of not wanting to open a can of worms?
Let alone steer up a hornets’ nest.
Clearly, your recent arrests in terms of the combined money involved is but a drop of water in an ocean, compared to the above millions gone to ‘mahala’ without a trace. Mind you, this is too much money to just be ignored, but it seems your office has conveniently forgotten about this.
We await your response to the above questions in the interest of fairness and the credibility of your office. Because so long as the political heavyweights continue to get away with corruption, it is safe to say lock the office and throw away the key, because your campaign will purely become a nuisance to everyone.
Waiting for your reply soonest
Yours sincerely
