WINDHOEK
The severed human head and two forearms that were found in a black refuse plastic bag near the Grootfontein State Hospital on Monday were flown to Windhoek yesterday for further forensic investigations.
Police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Angula Amulungu, said no further information was available on the case. The police are awaiting a report on the forensic investigators’ findings.
“The body parts were flown over to the Windhoek Police Mortuary at the instruction of the Director of the National Forensic Science Institute of Namibia, Dr Paul Ludik, and his team,” said Amulungu.
Meanwhile, the Oshikoto Police Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner Annamarie /Goagoses has been inundated with phone calls from members of the public who wanted to know about the identity of the victim.
“People have been calling me a lot the whole day, but only mostly out of curiosity about the discovered body parts. What we need urgently from the public is for them or anyone who may be missing a relative to please come in to identify the body parts because the head is still recognisable,” said /Goagoses.
Identification is usually the first major part of the investigation. This helps by way of getting more information about the deceased. Asked about blood stained seat covers of a car, a female sleeping dress and black bra and whether these would aid the police in their investigations, /Goagoses said at this point the police are not sure whether these items had anything to do with the dismembered human parts.
“There are just no clues in identifying the victim now,” said /Goagoses.
