Regional sports officers in the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture were the proud beneficiaries of eleven brand-new tele-fax machines from local technology equipment dealer Schoemans Office Systems.
Schoemans’ Manager of Digital Image Technologies Alex Horn handed over the equipment to the Director of Sport Vetumbuavi Veii, at a special function in Windhoek last week.
Horn assured the Ministry of his company’s commitment towards the development of sport and said Schoemans would be responsible for the equipment’s maintenance for a period of five years.
At the same occasion, the Ministry also received a donation of close to 300 high quality soccer balls and 36 bicycle pumps from the Japanese government.
Veii said the soccer balls would be distributed to various needy schools including yet to be identified football development academies around the country.
Namibia is one of two countries alongside South Africa from the
14-member SADC Region chosen for the donation – which was handed over by the Deputy Head of Mission attached to the Japanese Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, Takayuki Miyashita.
