Namibia’s largest pharmaceutical distributor Nampharm has opened a new building in Prosperita Industrial Area.

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Richard Kamwi, officially opened the building last week.

Started by entrepreneur Andre van der Walt in 1997 in Grootfontein, Nampharm has grown into the biggest pharmaceutical distributor in Namibia with a current market share of 63 percent.

“With an ever-evolving market, we had to change our mission accordingly to be able to meet the new demands and expectations of our valued customers.

To create a one-stop wholesaler and to have a full consumer and surgical range, we needed adequate floor space and enough space to last for at least another 10 years,” said Ruanda de Waal, the Managing Director of Nampharm.

The new building in Prosperita Industrial Area is the largest open air-conditioned building in the country with a warehouse of 3 000 square meters and an office block of 1 400 square meters.

The previous building was 1 750 square meters in size with only 800 square meters used for the warehouse.

“After seven years of business, we realized that it had become imperative to plan for a bigger warehouse as we were slowly running out of space. To meet up with the requirements of our customers, we realized that a change was inevitable,” said De Waal.

In his speech, Dr Kamwi encouraged the pharmaceutical distributor to assist upcoming pharmacies.
