WINDHOEK
A teacher in the Omaheke Region was arrested on Friday afternoon, after he allegedly sodomised five boys from his school.
The teacher who originally hails from the Aminuis Constituency is expected to appear in the Gobabis Magistrates’ Court this morning. He was refused bail because of the serious nature of the crime.
A high ranking official from the Ministry of Education in the Omaheke Region confirmed the incident to New Era and police officers at the town told him that the teacher has previously been warned about his conduct with school boys.
The official said it has not yet been established what exactly happened but it is suspected that he either sodomised the boys or he made them play with his private parts.
The teacher is a single parent and has been in the profession for over 15 years.
Meanwhile at Katima Mulilo in the Caprivi Region, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with murder. The juvenile allegedly killed a six-year-old boy after he hit him with a stone on the left side of the head.
The incident took place last Thursday at about 11h00 at the Sikosinyana Senior Secondary School in the Sibbinda area.
Police investigations continue.
At Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region, Junias Kaita, 25, died on arrival at Eenhana Hospital after he was stabbed with a sharp object in the back, while another 38-year-old male is also recovering from stab wounds at the same hospital.
The two were allegedly stabbed during a fight. Two suspects aged 26 and 29 years have been arrested following the incident and police investigations continue.
