Government did not carry out the “comprehensive” environmental-geochemical survey that supposedly brought to light high, and possibly lethal, levels of copper around the Berg Aukas area because “people or animals got sick or died”.
Denying the allegation, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, Peingeondjabi Shipoh, said Government launched the survey entirely on its own initiative.
“We are the ones who started the survey, and I must say there that there is no copper contamination as was alleged by Phil ya Nangoloh,” Shipoh said.
The Geological Survey of Namibia conducted the study in 2005 in conjunction with the University of Namibia, the Czech Geological Survey and the Bundesanstalt f???_?_’???_?’???_?
