RUNDU
Rundu Town Council has announced the appointment of Romanus Ngurungu Haironga as its new chief executive officer, with effect from last Thursday.
For four years, the Rundu Town Council has been without a permanent CEO, since the departure of its former boss Lukas Muhepa, who was suspended in 2004.
Speaking during the official reception of the newly appointed CEO, the Mayor of Rundu Gosbert Mandema explained that the council had experienced difficult times during the absence of a permanent CEO, which caused uncertainty in steering the organization. He added that decision-making had become increasingly difficult to implement.
Mandema challenged the new CEO to recognize the town council’s demands and map out workable strategies and solutions to address the town’s growing demands.
“Rundu residents and its business community have high expectations and hopes in terms of timely and quality service delivery, and it falls on the newly appointed CEO to turn these hopes and expectation into realities,” said the town mayor.
On his part the new CEO expressed gratitude for the trust and respect bestowed on him, saying he welcomed the challenging position with both hands.
“I am your child and brother, I need your full support, your guidance as well as advice so that I can grow and contribute successfully to the development of our mighty Rundu town and Kavango Region at large,” he appealed.
The new CEO holds a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Human Resources and previously worked as a customs and excise officer in the Finance Ministry.
