South Africa’s northernmost Limpopo Province has reached out to Namibia’s four northern regions – Omusati, Oshana, Ohangwena and Oshikoto – for business relations in tourism, mining and agriculture.

This follows a two-day international investment conference co-chaired by South African President Thabo Mbeki and President Hifikepunye Pohamba at the beginning of this month to attract foreign direct investment to Namibia.

With an annual budget of about R23 billion, the Limpopo Province commands a vibrant economy. The highest average real-economic growth rate in South Africa between 1995 and 2003 was recorded in Limpopo at 3,5 percent (GDPR). The provincial economy more than doubled from R34ǟ
