The National Theatre of Namibia invites local scriptwriters to take part in the 2007/2008 Golden Pen National Script Writing Competition by submitting their plays.
Introduced in the year 1998, the Golden Pen National Scriptwriting Competition aims at giving Namibian scriptwriters an opportunity to write new theatre plays for presentation to the Namibian audience, to develop the local theatre industry and to create awareness for locally produced theatre plays in general.
Rules of the competition:
1. The author must be Namibian or have permanent residence in Namibia.
2. Only two scripts per author will be accepted for submission.
3. Previously published plays and plays which have enjoyed public performance will not be admitted to the competition.
4. Registration fee of N$50 per submission is required.
5. Hand written scripts will not be accepted.
6. Scripts must be submitted as hard copy supported by an electronic copy.
7. Outside Windhoek registration should enclose a crossed postal order for the registration fee.
8. Stage direction: plays should reflect the (minimum) stage direction required for the reader to see the complete play in front of his/her eyes; who does what, where and who says/does what to whom where, when (and the why is for the reader/judge him/herself judge).
9. Length of the play: a minimum of 5ǟ
