WINDHOEK
One of Namibia’s premier music networking stable, Omalaeti, has done it again – released four albums with a taste for all. A must for listeners and revellers, the albums feature a host of artists under the label.
“We are delighted to announce Tate Buti’s 17-track CD, Ondungu. The album is rich in Omalaeti’s ground breaking genre, Kwiku music,” said the director of the company, John Walenga, in a press statement.
“If you have not been hit by Oshitenda yet, then you haven’t experienced pain. If you are still denying that the first thing you store as a kid was Osuuka, then you have missed out on pleasure of life. Stealing in some communities can lead to a death sentence. How can you claim to know life if you haven’t experience the pain and its sweetness?
“OK! You don’t like to be on the extreme, Ouvalelo wuna Ondungu. If you are not eating Ondungu oto li shike? Thank you.”
Pedrito’s 16-track CD called Egweli. What do u expect; my ancestors are from the Great Lakes. Their sweet melodies lingers in my mind. My Inner Soul, inner my fingers and straight into my being. Mama Africa is calling. My music is a Great Trek 2 the Great Lake. Welcome on board.
In Omalaeti’s vast growing library of artists comes PDK, (Patrick, Dion and Kamutonyo, who have brewed up a Kwiku Afro Pop, Pantsula scorcher, called Paantu, a 15-track album.
Another giant step for Paantu. Oshiwambo for people are what they are cause of other people. That’s, why ngele twa ningi epuko omuna uufemba okupopya. Shaa shi iinima yuuyuni oyi na omupya. And that u have been doing. To all artists: No nid 2 b scared, coz after us, there will be no other.
Our music if for everybody. The blinds – we catch them with the message. The deaf we dance twafa kaatu li Paantu. Like John Wa always tell us, “anything your parents cannot appreciate, don’t sing it”.
Step Two 2 Vision 2030 is strictly Kwiku House. On this platform we will continue to define a unique brand of Namibian House.
The truth is:
Other Nations have used house music to breathe new life in their traditional and spiritual songs. I don’t believe in reinventing a wheel. I mean Namibia is blessed with diverse culture and a sea of songs for almost every occasion.
Composers and authors of music have no one to turn to. Producers have looked elsewhere for wisdom and inspiration. Feeding the generation of dance music enthusiast with a foreign diet. That’s criminal! Day light robbery!
As a daughter of the soil, I decided, talk is cheap. After all the most part of House is just remixing! Hence familiar tunes on Step Two 2 Vision 2030.
Thank you Omalaeti for allowing me to abuse your facilities. Pedrito, your guidance will continue to be the light to Namibian house. A big five to all the Artists who have featured. To my fans, keep the faith.
I will forever be indebted to Pastor Namaseb and Lucky //Gaseb for permitting us to remix their compositions song three and 11 respectively. Dankie
To the DJs, the vendors, the journalists, the revellers and listeners, the Shebeen owners, the taxi drivers and the professional, enjoy this festive season with Omalaeti.
And remember, Omalaeti will continue to take Namibian composed songs from the churches to the streets equally we shall take Namibian traditional songs in the domain to new Ohungi places (clubs & mbashus) across the length and breath of the country.
