Young author publishes book on life’s struggles and hopes

Home National Young author publishes book on life’s struggles and hopes

WINDHOEK – A young author and final year University of Namibia (Unam) student, Elise Shinedima’s second book titled Give me another day, is out.

It explores many areas such as people’s struggles and hopes. The book resonates with different people’s life experiences with powerful themes that many can relate to. According to Shinedima, the title is intended to awaken people’s thoughts about who they are, a question that many people normally ask themselves. A regular speaker at Rotary club’s conferences, women and youth initiative programmes, she developed an early interest in writing with her first novel titled What You Seek Is Within You, which she published at 18 years. In her latest book, Shinedima opens up on the dangers of unresolved family pathology issues, which can affect one’s life in the future. “The book also provokes one’s consciousness about being alert with regards to the friends we keep, choices we make, and most importantly, the boy child who was made to believe that they should never break down, whose emotional needs are very often discarded because they are ‘men’.” And the lack of strong, positive male figures who set a good example to young men about responsibility, patience, love, religion, good morals and ethics is believed to be the number one cause of some men’s short comings in today’s society,” says Shinedima.
Shinedima is born in the Ohangwena region and grew up in Windhoek, where she started her primary school and grew up to be a dynamic motivational speaker. Her book is available countrywide, and can also be requested via email: elisetujenikelao@gmail.com.
