WINDHOEK – One of Namibia’s top football mentors Woody Jacobs, who yesterday surprisingly parted ways with club Tigers FC, is top favourite to take over at newly promoted Namibia Premier League (NPL) side Okahandja United FC, New Era Sport has established.
Woody yesterday announced his resignation as head coach of Tigers with immediate effect, telling this publication that his decision was prompted by a raft of irreconcilable differences he had with the club’s management.
“I really don’t want to point fingers at anyone or blame my decision on the club’s management but they (Tigers management) knows why I’m leaving as the past few month have been very stressful and it appears we could not reach common grounds on the problems we had. So to put it in short, I leaving Tigers because of irreconcilable differences and that’s final. I would like to thank the club for the opportunity they have granted me to be their coach since December 2017. A special thanks goes out to the players for their dedication, hard work and respect they have showed me. They are the best,” said Jacobs.
Further digging by the New Era Sport crew, through reliable sources, established that Jacobs is top favourite to take over as head coach of NPL’s newly-promoted Namibia Premier League (NPL) outfit Okahandja United FC.
A reliable source at Okahandja United revealed that the club’s management had approached Jacobs to take over as new head coach and an agreement was reached in principle.
“What I can tell you is that an agreement was reached in principle between the two parties, only the signing of the contract and official unveiling of Jacobs and some other new players remain at this stage. I’m confident Woody is coming to Okahandja as he (Jacobs) is the top favourite on the list of the club’s management. I mean he has NPL experience and his CV is unquestionable, so why not? The guy has coach all the top clubs and has won multiple trophies,” said the source.
