WINDHOEK – Brave Warriors coach Bucksy Mannetti opted for the tried and tested cadre when he announced his 26-member squad for Namibia’s do-or-die clash away to the Mozambican Mambas in the AFCON 2019 Qualifier on the 10th of this month.

The Warriors are yet to record a win after two rounds of qualifiers, having narrowly lost their opening match against Guinea Bissau before being held to a 1-all draw by Zambia in a match that was there for the taking at the packed to rafters Sam Nujoma stadium.

With 12 points still up for grabs, Manettie’s misfiring soldiers are under tremendous pressure to start finding the back of the net if they are to stand any chance of making their third appearance at the continental showpiece.

The former Brave Warriors and Lightbody Santos midfield anchorman has kept faith with the same team that did duty against Zambia in Namibia’s last competitive match.

Despite an uncharacteristic lukewarm defensive display in the drawn match against the Chipolopolo, highlighted by lack of concentration which led to the last minute equaliser, there’s still no place in the squad for utility defenders Chris Katjiukua and Mashaba Karongee.

Veteran shot stoppers Max “Slimkat” Mbaeva and Virgil Vries retained their places in the provisional squad alongside Ratanda Mbazuvara and Highlands Park net guard Lloydt Kazapua.

The provisional 26-member squad reads as follows:

Goalkeepers: Max Mbaeva, Virgil Vries, Ratanda Mbazuvara, Lloydt Kazapua.

Defenders: Emilio Martin, Larry Horaeb, Tebs Lombard, Riaan Hananub, Charles Hambira, Vitapi Ngaruka, Denzil Haoseb, Junior Gebhardt.

Midfielders: Dynamo Fredericks, Ronal “Stigga” Ketjijere, Wangu Gome-Batista, Petrus “Shoes” Shitembi, Deon Hotto-Kavendjii, Marcel Papama, Willy “Awillo” Stephanus, Abasalom “Abes” Iimbindi.

Strikers: Ballack Somaeb, Sadney “Sithos” Uri-Khob, Peter “Pikes” Shalulile, Muna Katupose, Ita Keimuine, Benson “Styles” Shilongo.
