WINDHOEK- Creative, model and a living activist Reginald Omar took to social media to applaud those who attended the Fashion Soirée and critically put out his view on the judgment aspect, especially of men.
“A man cannot be defined by the cloth he wraps himself in but rather the bravery of his heart. Ironic how in actual fact a real man is one that wears and expresses himself however he wants and yet not caring what other people think of him. He does not care about the masses as long as he harms no life,” said Omar.
The Fashion Soirée held at Nyama Restaurant was a platform where Namibian celebs and the general fashion-loving public partied in style while interacting and networking during the biggest fashion event of the year.

This year’s show was hosted by Reinhard Mahalie and Rumano Fabrishh, the event took place during Windhoek Fashion Week, which has received a stamp of approval by fashion week organisers as the first and only independent after-party for fashion week attendees.

Concept creator Rukee Kaakunga said the concept dates way back. “It came from casual conversations that Reinhard, Rumano, Jay-Aeron and I would have for a couple of years when we bumped into each other on red carpets at industry events,” she said.

This is the second time the trio is hosting the Soirée. “I mentioned several times to them that their brands are getting big and they need to start capitalising on their collective identity as three of the most anticipated people on every Namibian red carpet,” she explained on what inspired at the event.  Kaakunga and the trio envisioned this to be a thorough event that they host where others can self-express their fashion sense in totality without any inhibitions.

“The Soirée is meant to be a premier fashion party that brings together fashion enthusiasts to mingle and party in style. We are aiming to have the event every year and plan on switching things up next year so watch this space,” she told Entertainment Now!

The event, which is aiming to occur annually, brought fashion lovers together alongside sought-after local disc jockeys such as DJ K-Boz and Gina Jeanz to perform. A stellar and electrifying performance was from Namibia’s queen of lyrics and mistress of rap, Lioness who was backed by her sister Gina Jeanz, a South Africa-based producer.
