Namibia’s local pizzeria Eagles Pizza has donated N$9 000 to the Orlindi Orphanage Home in Katutura and to the Senior Park Old Age Home in Pioneers Park in light of celebrating their ninth anniversary in the food industry.

Orlindi Orphanage caretaker Claudia Namises said this beautiful gift of N$4 500 came at the right time.
“We are so happy for this kind gesture. We have plumbing issues at our offices; we will buy materials to fix things. The money will go a long way to assist the kids and make sure they are well fed. We are trying to have as much hygiene as possible so that we can maintain cleanliness, so we need to get sanitisers and soaps as well,” said the overzealous Namises.

The pizzeria’s spokesperson, Tukondjeni Nakashole, told Youth Corner they felt that during times like these, with the pandemic ongoing, the money will go a long way to purchase different necessities for both the kids and the elderly.
“They are well placed to know exactly what critical items they require instead of us going to purchase items that are not critical or essential hence the reason to donate cash,” explained Nakashole.

He said: “As a business, we are always looking at investing back into the community in which we are operating. Since we are based in Pioneers Park, we decided to donate to the old age home, which is roughly 100 metres away from Eagles Pizza Baines outlet. On the orphanage home, this donation was not the first, as we donated winter items already this year.”
Nakashole mentioned they have a passion and recognise the huge potential of these kids and just wanted to create a sense of hope, belonging and relevance in society for the kids.

“Overall, we commit to growing the Eagles brand, while uplifting those who are in need,” added Nakashole.
Eagles Pizza employs about 50 young Namibians at four outlets in the capital, namely: Baines Shopping Mall in Pioneers Park, Riverport Apartments in Southern Industrial, Mega Centre – Kleine Kuppe and Wernhill Shopping Centre – Windhoek CBD.
“It has not been easy as a new entrant in the market that is dominated by powerful multinational brands – with unmatched financial resources. However, if you believe in something, you must not give up but rather persist, commit, work hard and eventually persevere,” he stated. “We have not made it yet, and we are continuing that path to build the Eagles Pizza brand to become the first 100% Namibian franchise – not only to be available countrywide but also expand into the SADC region,” concluded Nakashole.
