The Governor of Oshikoto Region, Henok Kankoshi, has urged regional and local authority councillors to explore investment opportunities and lure investors to the constituencies, settlements and towns in the region.

He also appealed to regional leaders to keep the community informed of developmental projects earmarked for their respective areas.

Kankoshi said it is imperative to inform the community of the implications as well as the benefits that will come with proposed development projects.

“I would like to implore you as leaders to pass on the correct information to the community regarding investment proposals in your respective constituencies, especially highlighting the implications and potential benefits to accrue from these projects,” said Kankoshi.

He spoke during his recent state of the region address.

While advocating for constant communication, he also appealed to all stakeholders to appreciate constructive criticism in order to develop the region collectively.

“We must work together as a united team to eradicate poverty, unemployment and other social ills in our society – constructive criticism should be allowed instead of destructive criticism,” said Kankoshi.

The regional head also declared an all-out war against gender-based violence.

Without giving statistics, he said the regional office has in dismay witnessed an increase in gender-based violence affecting women and children.

He said the responsibility of rooting out violence cannot be left to law enforcement alone, but should be a shared responsibility of all peace-loving and law-abiding citizens.
