National junior football team, the Young Warriors, are well prepared and ready to face South Africa for their 2017 CAF U/20 Africa Cup of Nations second round first leg qualifier, coach Gerald Gunter has indicated.
Namibia take on South Africa tomorrow at the Sam Nujoma Stadium (15h00) and entrance to the match will be free of charge to all members of the public.
Coach Guther stated that after a few days in Ghana on a training camp, his boys are ready to take to the field against their much- fancied South African counterparts as they continue their quest for a place in Zambia for the continental youth championship in 2017.
“We had a very productive training camp in Ghana. Intensive training with a lot of lessons from our interactions with local teams. We are well prepared for this game on Saturday and have also overcome our injury concerns.” Guther added that his side is not intimidated by the experience of the South Africans, as their main objective going into tomorrow’s match is to make sure they win the first leg before they travel to South Africa for the second leg.
“They have seen us play against Swaziland in the first round but we know that they have players that played in the under -17 World Cup in Chile last year and most players are attached to PSL sides, but that does not worry us much.
We have showed character and the boys are eager to prove a point and that will make the difference come tomorrow.
We will go out there and play to our game and fight for the best possible result under the circumstances on the day”, assured Guther.
