Stampriet
Kia Elite rider Michael Pretorius won the men’s division of the Stampriet MTB & Trail Run last Saturday. He finished the 70km course in southern Namibia in a time of 2:59:31 hours. Johnny Steenkamp made second place (3:30:45) ahead of Henco Blaauw (3:39:01).
Meanwhile, Kirsten Elfrieda was unstoppable in the women’s division as she cruised to victory in 3:42:25 hours, more than ten minutes ahead of second-placed Carolin Janik.
The two were the only women to compete over 70km. Alex Miller was the quickest male competitor over the 35km route. He completed the race in 1:21:07. Schalk van der Merwe had to settle for second place (1:23:12) while Johan Voges came in third (1:26:35).
The women’s race was won by Karen Munting. She edged past Zelda Moolman (1:59:13) and Christa Mulder (2:00:28) to take home the gold medal.
