A brand new musical act, being hailed as the No Names, makes its debut at NamJam tonight in the Kalabar at the Hilton Hotel in the City.
Occasionally the Hilton NAMJAMS concert series has been introducing newcomers with promising careers. Stardust made a debut appearance here recently, shortly after their rise to fame at the Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs). Their backing and supporting band consisted of young musicians, most studying music at the College of the Arts currently. Complementing the Stardust duo, two artists stood out, namely vocalist Esmeralda Kamoça Fernandes and rapper Fesse Amunyela.
No Names offer a basis for other musicians of the same age group – some of whom are currently enjoying their school holidays elsewhere. The name implies that the musicians are not widely known, but definitely ready to step outside their rehearsal rooms and face the challenge of making a name for themselves. How better to begin their fateful journey than by offering a debut concert at the Hilton Kalabar?
Leonard ‘Leo’ Nombanza is the musical director and plays acoustic guitar. He and his brother, drummer Gabes T Nombanza, the heartbeat of the band, used to ‘wake up to the sound of rehearsals by the Ndilimani Group’, which is being led by their father, Jesse Nombanza.
