Kerina’s wife critically ill

Home National Kerina’s wife critically ill

Windhoek

The wife of veteran retired politician and forerunner for Namibia’s petitioning to the United Nations in the early 60s Professor Mburumba Kerina, Evelhardine Kapuuo-Kerina, has taken ill and is in a critical condition in a city hospital.

However, Kerina yesterday described his wife’s condition as fairly serious but stable.
Kapuuo-Kerina, 80, a veteran of the fight against white minority rule and an old ally of the former first lady Kovambo Nujoma was admitted last Thursday. “Her condition is much, much better compared to last week,” said a visibly shaken Kerina yesterday, adding that she has been diagnosed with heart failure.

The much-travelled articulate politician requested for privacy, humbly asking the public not to attempt visiting his ailing wife in hospital in order to allow her ample time and much-needed rest and heal as advised by the medical team treating her.

“Should anyone need further information concerning the progress of my beloved wife. They are more than welcome to contact any family member or alternatively, we will make use of the radio to keep relatives, friends and acquaintances informed and updated in this regard,” concluded Kerina.
Her illness follows short on the heels of Kerina’s confinement after the veteran politician took ill on suspected high blood pressure last week.
