FNB Namibia conducted its annual group wellness educator’s workshop from Monday to Wednesday.
According to Jaunita Slinger, wellness specialist at FNB Namibia, this workshop was vitally important as it highlighted numerous health aspects that any good company needed to know and be aware of in order to ensure a healthy and happy workforce. She added: “We all know that wellness programmes improve staff morale, reduce absenteeism, and contribute to the health and longevity of each employee. Wellness programmes are instrumental in keeping people on a healthy living path, especially in office environments where the employees are desk-bound for the greatest part of a working day.”
Slinger also advised that it has been proven that healthy employees tend to be happier and more productive and the benefits to both employee and employer are manifold. “Employees are the most valuable assets in any company and by providing them with some health related services, companies are improving wellbeing and job satisfaction, as well as raising retention rates. Happiness all around.”
This year’s workshop held discussions on diet and weight management, self-care and power imbalance, grieving and bereavement, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, suicide prevention and communication, financial management to name but a few. FNB Namibia was supported throughout the workshop by numerous experts who spoke on a variety of topics. These included – for example – Methealth Namibia, Windhoek Occupational Therapy, Health Works Namibia, Lifeline/Childline, BRG Biokenitics and Adonai Trust. The workshop was attended by 24 wellness educators from various departments and branches of FNB Namibia.
