Katutura glamour football club African Stars dethroned Black Africa from the pedestal after wrestling the coveted MTC Premiership title away from the reigning Namibian champions in fine style.

Stars were crowned Namibian champions with a match to spare following a flawless display that saw Woody Jacobs’ charges demolish already relegated Rebels by four unanswered goals in a one-sided MTC Premiership match at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Sunday.

A well-taken hat trick by stylish striker Asprilla Wermann complemented by Zimbabwean import Godwin Jena’s late strike did the trick for Stars after the they were stopped right in their tracks by a rampant Tigers the day before.
The Reds were deserved winners of the coveted MTC Premiership title having led the log table for the better part of the campaign.

Stars dusted themselves off from back-to-back defeats against eternal rivals Orlando Pirates and Tigers in the Bidvest Cup and the potential title-winning tie against Tigers on Saturday.
The Reds took the lead through fullback Tinkler Kahua in their match against Ingweinyama but the lead was cancelled by Letu Shatimuene’s goal before Freedom Puriza’s own goal gifted Tigers the 2-1 victory.
In other action, Black Africa’s woes continued when they were held to an uninspiring goalless draw against hoodoo team Civics while Tigers suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of kid brother Tura Magic.

Unam and Citizens cancelled each other in a 1-all stalemate and Blue Waters crawled back from the jaws of defeat to fashion a 2-all draw against the fast-improved Touch and Go on home soil.

After a good start to their league campaign, coastal giants Eleven Arrows are fishing in troubled waters staring relegation in the face in the aftermath of shock home defeats against fellow relegation candidates Touch and Go and already relegated Benfica in last weekend’s league action.

FNB Orlando Pirates’ slim hopes for the runner up spot evaporated into thin air after dropping two valuable points against lowly placed United Stars. Mighty Gunners all but secured their premiership survival with a deserved 3-1 triumph over United Stars.
