Dimension Data, the US$6.7 billion global IT solutions and services provider, recently announced that it has been certified as one of the top five employers in the world for outstanding employee offerings. The certification was based on annual independent research carried out by the Top Employers Institute.

The stringent criteria that organizations are assessed on include talent management; leadership; training and development; and initiatives to attract, retain and engage employee talent.

Rowan Kleintjes, Managing Director of Dimension Data Namibia – a business partnership between the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group and Dimension Data Middle East and Africa – said: “Over the past five years great strides have been made regarding employees and their wellbeing. This has been done through various initiatives which have motivated and inspired our employees.”

Dimension Data Namibia as part of the Ohlthaver & List Group is 49 percent owned by Dimension Data Holdings.
Kleintjes said that Dimension Data was also part of a winning recipe in Namibia. “After all we are part of the Ohlthaver & List Group, which has been named Best Company to Work For the past four consecutive years – not only in Namibia but also in the SADC region. Over the past few years even more efforts have been made by our parent company O&L regarding employees and their wellbeing. This has been done through various initiatives such as the annual Mwenyopaleka road show; the O&L world leadership development programme; the O&L talent attraction programme (TAP); the monthly value star awards as well as the 12 season awards – to name but a few. All of these have led to motivated, inspired and involved employees in the group supporting our company purpose, ‘Creating a future, enhancing life’.”

Linda Fine, Dimension Data’s Human Resources Executive for Middle East and Africa, added: “In the highly competitive IT landscape, Dimension Data has a clear strategy to attract, engage, develop and retain talent. In the South African market we have had the honour of being accredited as top employer for the past six years and our recent accolade of being the industry winner in the technology services category in the recent 2015 awards ceremony is testimony to the investment we make in our people.

“In terms of young emerging talent, our graduate accelerate programme (GAP) provides a structured two-year programme which focuses on bringing new young graduates with fresh ideas into the business.  Our innovative fast-track programme helps grow and retain young up and coming talent in our organization and exposes them to all aspects of our business locally and globally.  Our global leadership forum provides a multi-layered approach to support the ongoing development of our leaders. The investments we make in our people empower them to grow their skills and stay current in the fast-moving world of technology.”
