An 18-year-old resident of Kosis settlement was stabbed to death at a bottle store on Sunday after the deceased reportedly insulted some girls.

A 19-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the killing and he is expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court to face a charge of murder.

It is alleged the suspect stabbed the deceased with a knife at the gate of the bottle store after the deceased insulted two girls as they walked into the bottle store and followed them continuing with the insults as they went out.
The deceased has been identified as Edwin Mortel and his next of kin were informed about his demise.
In another stabbing, on Saturday a 30-year-old man was knifed in the stomach at midnight at Shorty’s shebeen at Grunau settlement.

A 30-year-old suspect who is a cousin of the victim was arrested and is expected to appear in the Karasburg Magistrate’s Court on a charge of attempted murder.

It is alleged a fight broke out after an argument – both the victim and suspect were under the influence of alcohol.
The victim was transported to Karasburg State Hospital and transferred to Windhoek due to the seriousness of his injuries – but his condition was said to be serious but stable.

In a separate incident a case of negligent driving has been opened against a Dutch national after the vehicle he was driving in the company of a friend overturned on the gravel road from Helmeringhausen.

It was reported on Sunday afternoon the driver lost control of the car, which resulted in it overturning causing serious injuries to both driver and passenger.
They were taken to Keetmanshoop hospital for treatment.
