Through the generous sponsorship of Retirement Funds Solutions, which injected N$20 000 into the W&V Youth Football Academy, SKW successfully hosted the biggest youth football tourney in the country in Windhoek recently.
A total of 59 teams of more than 800 players between the ages of six and seventeen, from hosts SKW, Ramblers, DTS, Otjiwarongo, Swakopmund, Swallows, Mario’s, Eros Kingz Empire and DSSW competed in the competition.
In the younger age groups (Under 7/Under 9), Ramblers emerged victorious with DTS in second place followed by Swallows in a league format. Rammies also clinched the Under 11 and Under 13 finals, defeating Swallows and eternal rivals SKW 1-0 and 5-1 respectively.
SKW’s youth development work paid off in the Under 15 and Under 17 age groups, as Imawida saw off Swallows and Ramblers in the finals 1-0 and 3-2.
The SKW football committee expressed gratitude towards all sponsors, supporters, parents, officials and participants, who made the tournament a great success while creating a platform for youth football in the country.
