Speaking to New Era Sport yesterday in the comfort of his home, newly crowned International Boxing Federation (IBF) Continental Africa Featherweight champion Sakaria ‘Desert Storm’ Lukas described Saturday’s victory against Tanzanian opponent Issa Nampepeche as the beginning of much bigger and better things to come.

The fast and hard-punching Namibian boxer became the new holder of the coveted IBF Continental Africa Featherweight title after dispatching Nampepeche in the 7th round at a packed Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino on Saturday.

“He is a good fighter and came well prepared but I was equally well prepared but my greatness made the difference on the night. I really wanted his belt and with the kind of performance I put up on Saturday, I really think I deserve it,” said Lukas.

“Saturday’s fight was a job done from my side, it’s now back to the gym to work harder and smarter. As for my future plans, I really can’t say anything at this moment because I have a promoter and a hard working team that will focus on that but for now I will just focus on working hard in the gym and keep flying the Namibian flag high.”
