WINDHOEK – Namibia’s KIA Elite riders put up strong performances during last weekend’s Hollard MTB X-Ride to secure four Top 10 spots in the elite men category.
Michael Pretorius led the way for the men in red and white after completing the 90-km long course in third place with his time of 3:39:14 hours. The win went to guest veteran rider Konny Looser who finished the race in 3:18:40. Tristan De Lange came in second with 3:24:42.
Youngster Brandon Plaatjes, who only joined the team this year, continued his impressive string of results by taking fourth place in 3:49:42, ten minutes behind his team mate Pretorius. Brothers Jan-Hendrik and Marnus Verdoes completed the success with places five and six.
In the women’s division, Namibia’s top rider Vera Adrian took top honours in impressive style, clocking in nearly a quarter of an hour (3:50:12) before second-placed Michelle Vorster (4:05:52). Irene Steyn had to settle for third place (4:21:48).
A total 150 riders took part in the race.
