WINDHOEK – Esh-Ham Business Consultants recently held a two-day entrepreneurship and business development workshop in Windhoek.
“Unemployment is a common problem in Namibia and government and various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have been encouraging a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship with Namibians becoming more job creators rather than job seekers. The primary objective of the workshop was to heed to government’s call by equipping business people with the necessary knowledge and skills to start and manage their own businesses,” Esh-ham Managing Director and founder, Ester Hamukoto, explained.
The workshop focused on entrepreneurship development, social media management, financial projections and marketing principles. Esh-Ham’s marketing facilitator, Augusto Viagem, said with the dawn of technology and globalisation the business environment is ever-changing and it is important for businesses, especially in Namibia, to adapt to these changes. He said the workshop also assisted business people to be more competitive with their products and services.
The workshop was attended by 20 business people from those in the start-up phase to established business owners in fields of construction, printing, photography, IT and networking and hospitality and tourism just to mention a few.
“I was really impressed with the topic on social media management because I am new to this area but I would like to increase my customer base,” Tutaleni Armas, one of the participants, said.
Rob Parker, the social media facilitator at the workshop, highlighted different marketing platforms on social media and emphasized the importance of social media in any business.
Meanwhile, Hamukoto, who was happy with the workshop attendance, said: “It was great to see people networking and interacting with each other and learning a lot from the workshop, this is the second year we are hosting a similar workshop for Small Business Owners.”
The next Esh-Ham workshops will take place in Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Arandis and surrounding towns during May. Esh-Ham Business Consultants’ main objective is to assist young, upcoming companies to conform to all mandatory requirements to register as small and medium enterprises.
