WINDHOEK – The prospects of moving within touching distance of log leaders African Stars and second-placed Black Africa will certainly be a huge impetus for Tigers going into this weekend’s MTC premiership round of matches.
Tomorrow at the Sam Nujoma Stadium at 15h00, coach Bobby Samaria’s Tigers will lock horns with reigning champions Black Africa in a crucial tie that could go a long way in redefining both clubs’ league title ambitions.
Should Tigers win tomorrow’s fixture, they will move two points within reach of Black Africa, who are currently sitting second on the log with 47 points while Tigers who are third have 42 points from 23 matches played so far.
“Black Africa are coming from a draw against African Stars, so they will obviously be gunning for the three points at stake but it won’t be easy for them because we equally need the three points in order boost our league title hope. We managed to beat them in the first round but tomorrow’s game is a whole different new story for both teams and we are ready,” cautioned Samaria.
Despite his team’s readiness, Samaria said they will be without midfielder Simon Shikokola, who will not feature due to work commitments. Otherwise, the mentor says he boasts a clean sheet in terms of injuries and his tigers are ready to pounce on the defending champions.
On the other hand, a possible victory for Ronnie Kanalelo’s Black Africa will in all likelihood be a much-needed boost towards their quest to catch up with table toppers African Stars, thus Kanalelo’s charges will tomorrow be expected to throw everything in the direction of Tigers in search of a vital win.
