ONGWEDIVA – A 46-year-old shebeen queen allegedly shot a 30-year-old man over N$1.00 inserted in a coin-operated pool table at Oluntelengwa in Tsandi Constituency, in the early hours of Monday.

The 30-year-old Johannes Simon who hails from Oshigambo in Oshikoto Region is currently fighting for his life in the Oshakati hospital.

Simon resides at Onkiila village and a case of attempted murder was opened by the Omusati regional police.
An argument between the customers and the owner of Epandulo Bar broke out after the bar owner ordered the bar close its doors for the day. It is alleged the owner of the bar decided on the action after customers accused the owner of having stolen a cellphone that went missing from the bar.

Attempts to get the customers to vacate the bar proved futile. The victim also refused to leave the bar as he had just inserted N$1.00 in the pool table and was yet to play his game.

“The fight broke out because of the N$1.00 that was inserted into the pool table,” related Sergeant Hesekiel Hamalwa.

Some customers started throwing bottles around on he premises, which led to the owner firing shots at them. Two shots struck the victim in the shoulder.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in court in Okahao today.
Still in Omusati Region, the 31-year Helvi Kalola Wilhelm and her two-year-old son Hangula Victor Hitendemusha died after they were run over by a car on Good Friday.

Wilhelm who was crossing with her baby on her back were hit at Ondjola location on the main road between Tsandi and Okahao. Hitendemusha died on the spot while his mother died in the early hours of Monday in Oshakati hospital where she was transferred from Okahao.

A case of culpable homicide was opened against the 28-year-old driver from Olukima village.

Wilhelm and her son hailed from Onashitendo in Tsandi Constituency.
