OTJIWARONGO – A Grade 1 learner and her mother narrowly escaped death around midnight on Monday near the teachers’ resource centre in Orwetoveni in Otjiwarongo when a truck parked outside rolled freely down the road and rammed into their house.

The seven-year-old first grader and her mother escaped unhurt but the truck driver who tried to stop the truck broke his thighs and one arm.
The truck driver is Muningandu Kandorozu while the girl was identified as Tjivenae and her mother as Kenaa Tjapaka who were both sleeping at the time the wall of their house collapsed after being hit by the truck.
The truck is said to belong to Brener Fruits in Oshikango. Deputy Police Commissioner Moses Khairabeb confirmed the midnight accident and said investigators were trying to establish what really happened.
