WINDHOEK-Keeping up with clean eating on a daily is not always easy especially with junk foods tempting you at the store or take away.
To help you with your journey to clean eating, Registered Dietician Samantha du Toit every week takes on a group of participants eager to reach their goal weight at the Taste Academy.
Du Toit says the goal of this initiative is to help people make clean eating a way of life and not just a temporary “diet”. With technology advancing so quickly, and our modern day toxic environment having such a negative impact on our health, we desperately need to go back to the basics of healthy eating. Further, clean eating is all about choosing foods that are minimally processed and as natural as possible.
“As soon as you make your ultimate dietary intention and goal, then it becomes less complicated to eat healthy. Once you become aware of your physical and emotional hunger cues, learn about correct portion sizes and incorporate regular enjoyable exercise into your lifestyle, then weight loss is inevitable and sustainable,” said du Toit.
The initiative currently offers a slimming club which is an ongoing weight loss challenge with weekly support group meetings. Participants decide for themselves whether they would like to be “challenged” for four weeks, six weeks or ten weeks. When their challenge period is completed, they can decide whether they would like to continue with the support group meetings in order to reach their goal weight.
On registration, participants receive a clean eating manual and tool kit. The manual contains different meal plans, correct food portion sizes and recipes. It also consists of a weight loss tracker, eating habit tracker and tools to help plan your own individual meal plan and shopping list for the week ahead. In the manual there is also detailed nutrition information and weight loss tips.
Through the weekly weigh-ins and group support meetings participants are held accountable, are challenged and are constantly motivated. To join the group, email du Toit at eatcleannamibia@gmail.com
