WINDHOEK-Namibian born songstress, Shishani Vranckx, popularly known as Shishani, is launching her second album titled Session in Poland, tonight at the Warehouse Theatre.
After spending some time touring Europe and quietly studying the music industry, Shishani says her second project will surely be entertaining Namibians. She has worked with a Polish producer known as Tomasz Gwincinski. The album includes new singles such as Calling You, Short Term Vision and Lay in The Sun, which is also the titled of Shishani’s latest music video featuring dancer and choreographer, Tulimelila Shityuwete.
Shishani is an artist with a soft, flexible and soulful voice that reminds one of international artists likes of Tracy Chapman and Trixie Whitley. He genre is a mainly a mixture of Soul and Rhythm and Blues (RnB). Despite her young age, Shishani seems to possess certain wisdom on life. Shishani is loved for her smooth and powerful voice. Her style is influenced by the traditions of black American music, giving her a truly unique sound. Her music is also comforting and has a thread of strong social consciousness running through it.
Her song Minority garnered two nominations at the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAS) in the past. She has also been credited with a host of awards, both locally and internationally. Last year, Shishani was a finalist in the prestigious Radio France International Discovery Awards. During her career, Shishani has performed in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Ireland, Greece, Malawi, Morocco, South Africa, and her twin homes, Belgium and Namibia.
Since the beginning of this year, Shishani has given various successful performances throughout Europe including opening the show for legendary, Hall of Fame musician, Booker T. Jones in the United State of America (USA). She will also be representing Namibia at various European summer festivals this year including the ‘Africa Festival’ to be hosted in Wurzburg, Germany in June.
Tickets for the show are N$ 60 in advance and N$ 80 at the door. The show starts at eight o’clock in the evening (20H00).
