WINDHOEK – With 129 goals scored thus far, all roads lead to the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Katutura this weekend as the 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup quarterfinals get underway, with two matches set for each day beginning at 15h00 on Saturday.

It all started in January with over 200 football clubs under the auspices of the Namibia Football Association (NFA), but now it is down to the last eight as they fight for top honours in the final edition of the three-year Bidvest Namibia Cup.

On Saturday in the first quarterfinal the defending champions African Stars take on North West First Division side Young Chiefs.

Stars, who are looking to make it three out of three in the Bidvest Namibia Cup, were big winners in the last time out as they defeated Omaheke Nampol 11-0, while Chiefs humbled Touch & Go 2-1.

The second match of the day will be at 17h00 when Eleven Arrows face Citizens FC. Citizens are the losing finalists of the 2014 edition.

It has been a long time since Tigers reached the semifinals of any cup competition and with coach Bobby Samaria at the helm of the exciting squad Tigers will seek a place in the next round as they take on the University of Namibia in the first quarterfinal of Sunday at 15h00.

At 17h00, Orlando Pirates face traditional rivals Black Africa in the match of the weekend.
NFA Secretary General Barry Rukoro is excited about the quarterfinals: “This cup is all about surprises and we have already witnessed some, and come Saturday and Sunday we are in for some more treats. It is all about 90 minutes and one winner from each of the four matches – and it won’t be easy for any club. But you have to be there to see for yourself and see you there indeed,” Rukoro says.

Tickets will be available from Thursday, March 26 at all Computicket outlets at Shoprite and Checkers stores countrywide as well as Football House in Katutura for N$30 each.
