WINDHOEK – National carrier, Air Namibia, last week announced expansion in its operations in line with anticipated traffic growth in some of its markets that would necessitate a number of flight schedule changes.
The changes will come into effect on March 29, 2015.
At the end of March, Air Namibia will increase the number of flights on the Eros to Ondangwa route from two to three flights per day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. This means that there will be three flights per day from Eros to Ondangwa except for Saturdays, on which only one flight will operate. The airline is also re-launching its direct and non-stop flights between Walvis Bay and Johannesburg, as well as between Walvis Bay and Cape Town, on a daily basis. This, the national airline says, will support economic activities and growth of the Walvis Bay economy.
Furthermore, it will also increase the number of flights between Windhoek and Johannesburg from two flights to three flights every day of the week. All these flights will be operated using the Airbus A319.
And finally, flights between Windhoek and Rundu, as well as between Windhoek and Katima Mulilo will be moved from the Eros Airport to operate from the Hosea Kutako International Airport. “This will assist in minimising aircraft positioning costs and will increase aircraft availability on scheduled commercial flights,” said an Air Namibia spokesperson.
