WINDHOEK – Namibia’s Cross Country team that recently participated in the Region 5 championship of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) in Malawi gave a good account of themselves.
The ladies once again proved themselves with Beata Naigambo taking third place overall in the senior ladies category, while Eunike Kanana took second place in the ladies junior category.
In the team event, Namibia’s junior ladies finished second behind Malawi, managing to beat South Africa into second place. With the senior ladies team event, our ladies went one better and finished in first place ahead of the home side, Malawi.
“We can rightly be proud of the Namibian ladies. Cross Country Competition is alive and well in Namibia and every region is urged to hold their own championships to select teams to compete at the national championships, where a national squad would be selected to train for future African and World championships. It would also be a good idea if schools were to compete in a league over a period of months”, reads a statement from Athletics Namibia (AN).
