WINDHOEK – With 150 years of business banking in Africa, Standard Bank joined in the Africa Day celebrations on May 25 to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the Africa Union.
The bank once again sponsored N$50 000 towards the African Group Heads of Mission’s Africa Day celebrations which will be held on May 28. The sponsorship was for the African Group Heads of Mission’s various cultural activities to be held in commemorating the day. Standard Bank Namibia’s Head of Marketing Thaddius Maswahu recently handed over the sponsorship to the Dean of the African Group and Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Namibia Anastas Kaboba Wa-Kimba.

Africa Day is celebrated annually across the Continent to commemorate the 1963 establishment of the Organisation of Africa Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU). The day is also to remind African states to unite in order to collectively address the challenges facing the Continent. The AU comprises 53 member states.
