ONDANGWA – A 27-year-old male nurse arrested for allegedly raping a 36-year woman, was denied bail yesterday by the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court.
Aron Johannes Natangwe made his first court appearance, and his case was postponed to 15 May 2024 for further police investigations.
Namibian Police spokesperson, Inspector Raimbert Muronga stated that the victim and the alleged perpetrator were reportedly drinking together at a local bar before the incident occurred.
It is alleged that the victim then left him at the bar to go and sleep, but Natangwe afterwards allegedly snuck into her bedroom and raped her.
“The victim, while in bed, only saw him on top of her, raping her. However, the victim did not know how Natangwe entered her sleeping room,” said Muronga.
He added that there is no evidence of an intimate relationship between the victim and the accused, but they are friends.
Natangwe is a nurse at the Okatope Health Centre in the Oshikoto region.
