Magnificent… This sculpture of a heron bird stands tall and proud on the Oranjemund beachfront frequented by locals to enjoy the seaside. It was crafted by artist Ismael Shivute assisted by Immanuel Chiete within one week. The statue stands 3,5m tall and about 4m wide and was made from driftwood from the beach. Herons are long-legged, long-necked, fresh water and coastal birds. The sculpture was commissioned by the OMDis Town Transform Agency and is situated near the OMDis kiosk on the beach.
