Over 50 darts players will this weekend converge at the coastal town of Swakopmund to battle it out in another exciting darts tournament.
The tournament is organised by Falcon Darts Club (FDC) – and it will see 20 teams, comprising 13 male teams and seven female teams, square it off in an open tournament in a quest to win top prizes.
Speaking to this publication yesterday, Ralph Ludwig, who is chairperson at the club, said they expect high-quality darts this weekend, given the number of players and teams the tournament will attract.
“We expect to have a very tight contests tournament; we have teams from the regions, as well as teams from countries, such as Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe – just to mention a few.”
The tournament will mark its fifth edition, and the organisers have said this year’s one will be different from the previous events because they have more participants.
“We started small, and if we look at how huge the tournament has become, I can say this year’s event will be exciting and different. We have all types of quality darts players, and some of them are national players, so you can imagine the excitement and competitiveness,” he said.
The total amount of money to be won is N$25 000, which will be divided among various winners in different categories. King Prize Namibia sponsors the tournament, which will be hosted at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund.
